Correctional Training Academy Supports Ryan's Run

The Department of Correction Training Academy represented by 40 recruits from Recruit Training Class #306 and training staff participated in the Ryan's Run on Sunday, September 20, 2009. The community event is an opportunity for the training academy to teach and display the importance of public safety outside the prison walls in which correctional professionals serve. The Department of Correction would like to thank the Apostolakes family and the Chelmsford Police Department for allowing us to promote espri-de-corps within our academy class and support the RDA foundation and the community of Chelmsford MA.

Special thanks to Lieutenant Raymond Gonsalves for organizing the event. Lieutenant Gonsalves is the program coordinator in charge of Recruit Training Class #306 who graduated on Friday September 25, 2009 at Mechanics Hall, Worcester, MA.

Ryan's Train was inspired by Danny Chong, who fondly remembers that Ryan loved trains. "I had seen pictures of Ryan riding trains on his vacations in Colorado and he looked so happy. The few times he came into the office, he always had trains in his pockets and he would smile while he played with them. I think of him riding his train in heaven, surrounded by color and beauty."
